Easiest Eco-Friendly Swaps

5 Minute Read

Busy families have about ZERO minutes available for things that take too many steps...or too many extra loads of laundry.

How many extra minutes do you have in your day to add a new routine? Mine are about negative 11 minutes 😂. It´s overwhelming to think of adding a new routine to my day and quite honestly sends me into a panic attack.

So I’ve taken some time to curate some of those MINDLESS swaps for you because well, it’s my job so you can trust me and now you can use your precious mental minutes on other things! Also, I’ve made sure to include REAL reviews that reflect the general reception of the product on the platform it’s sold from.

You’re welcome!

Swedish Dish Cloths

These little work horses you’re gramma used to use are great because they soak up tons of liquids, help scrub stuff off your countertops and you can use them over and over again. Sure you’ll need to wash them every once and awhile, but you don’t have to get your stool out, grab another pack of disposable towels and wrestle with its plastic packaging before you can clean up the seventh cup of water that has spilled all over your floor thanks to your busy body little 5 year old.

These are our favorites because they specify that the ink used is water based and the cellulose is defined as wood pulp. Plus their super pretty🤩!

Organic Cotton Paper Towels

OK, I get it. Paper towels are honestly one thing I haven’t been able to fully swap because there are just too many gross things going on in my house with all the small kids in order completely get rid of the disposable stuff. BUT these things are PERFECT for using as napkins, surface cleaners, and kitchen towels. I love the texture of them and how they look a little more niche than your average kitchen towel. Plus, I love to use them on my counters with my homemade cleaners after I’ve wiped off all the junk at the end of the day. That way I’m not really staining them tons.

“We’re trying to be more mindful of our waste. I’ve tried quite a few paper towel alternatives, but these are by far the best! They are durable, the perfect size, they don’t get stinky (the last ones I tried smelled very sour after a few uses), once they get a little gross just throw them in the washing machine, and you can’t beat the price for the amount of towels you get. I highly recommend.”

Mason Jar Lid with Pump

These things are phenomenal! You already have 1,000 mason jars around why not multitask them! Now you can get all different types of lids for them on our faithful friend Amazon so they are no longer just your storage jars but they can be your new dish soap pump, hand soap dispenser, etc. I LOVE these ones because not only do they fit the regular, most common mason jars but they are detachable from that part and can used also for much smaller mouthed bottles. They also send you longer than needed pump straws so that you can customize it’s size.

Mason Jar Wood Drinking Lid

I know you girl. You can’t help yourself. You use your mason jars as cups. It’s ok. There’s no shame! And, look I’m gonna help your addiction by helping you make your jar portable and earth friendly! Check out the beautiful bamboo lids that fit snuggly on your jar and even come with metal straws! Eco-friendly for the win!

*Helpful hint: It looks like some people fLund that the bamboo might be splitting so they just used food grade oils to seal it. Something to think about.

“I drink a lot of sweet tea. I use jars to hold it. I was looking for a cap that I could just pop on and yet wouldn't come off. These are sturdy and easy to use. They stay in the jar because of the seal. I bought another set for small mouth jars too. The straws are great too. They would be great as "chewies" for kids with sensory disorders. Just love everything about these lids.” -Verified Purchase from Amazon Customer

Silicone Stretchable Food Covers

Y’all. I got these babies in a gift from a friend and I LOVE THEM! Whenever my storage containers are full from meal planning I have had such a hard time finding something to put the extra stuff in without using cling wrap. When I got these they saved all my problems because I have 1,000 bowls and these fit over ALL of them. NO edges sticking to each other, NO annoying barely working blade on a box to cut them. Plus they are easy to clean and reuse. Pretty mindless really!

Silicone Stretchable Food Covers

Phew, five doesn’t seem like a lot but we both know that that’s about as much as our brains can process before the next child starts screaming. This is a great start y’all! All really easy things to replace in your home with out having to sacrifice style or cost. Take your time adapting to these and seeing what works and what doesn’t work. Not everything has to be a fit for you and trying to make your life more sustainable should be something you can do for the long haul, so only take on what you know you can honestly do about 50% of the time.
